Is It Still Possible to Make Money Selling on eBay?

To make a long story short – yes. Yes it is possible to make money selling on eBay. Much like Amazon, eBay is a large online marketplace. In fact, eBay is the second largest online marketplace and is experiencing growth, both is website visitors and sales revenue. The truth is, more and more consumers are spending time and money on the Internet; eBay may not be innovating in quite the same way as Amazon, but they are still a favored location to shop for many consumers.

The beautiful thing about selling on eBay is that you can sell basically anything. On Amazon, especially as a beginner, you’ll need to first be approved to sell many different types of products and brands. On eBay, you can sell a pair of Nike shoes your first day on the job. You can sell clothes, books, electronics, makeup, outdoor equipment – you name it.

Many sellers make money on eBay by going to thrift stores and garage sales. These places can become a gold mine and help you see profit margins upwards of 100%. You can also go to online sources, such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to find people who are willing to see valuable items at lower than market value price.

I personally like to use apps such as Mercari, Offer Up, and Poshmark to find clothing and shoes that I can buy and then resell on eBay. I once sold a pair of Air Jordan basketball shoes for $180 – that I purchased for $50. Talk about an exciting moment in selling online!

So, if you’re looking to get into the online business game, I’d recommend starting on eBay. It’s easy to get started, straightforward to find good products to sell, and worth the time.

eBay is far from dead.
